When it comes to protecting collector vehicles, standard auto insurance doesn't cut it. Your special vehicle requires special coverage. Generally, to qualify for coverage for classic, collector, vintage, and antique cars or trucks, your vehicle needs to be used as an extra car and not your daily vehicle, kept in good working condition, and stored properly (storage requirements differ from state to state). Collector vehicles are meant be enjoyed, not just driven. Keep in mind that collector vehicles can include fun-to-drive cars from the 90s to today and they must be holding steady at a minimum value of $3,500, or increasing in value.
Hagerty provides coverage for secondary, just-for-fun vehicles only. Limited pleasure use is encouraged, as long as the vehicle isn't your primary daily driver.
Though Hagerty prefers that collector vehicles are stored in an enclosed, secure structure when not in use — such as a private garage, pole barn or storage unit — they will consider other storage types, including:

• Driveways • Car hauling trailers
Hagerty will want to make sure that all household members with a valid driver's license have a regular-use vehicle and primary auto insurance policy before they can offer coverage. Motorcycles and public transportation are not considered regular-use vehicles in most cases.
